Pumpkin Puree – Instant Pot Method

Pumpkin Puree can be prepared in an instant pot. The process is very simple and easy. I learned this method from an instant pot group.

I am sharing a step by step pictorial process.

Measuring cup used: 1 cup = 160ml

Step 1:

Wash the pumpkin. Cut around the stem and remove it.


Step 2:

Add 2 cups water in the instant pot insert. Place the trivet. Place the pumpkin on top of the trivet. Close the lid. Turn the steam releasing valve in sealing position. Cook on manual high pressure setting for 12-14 minutes depending on the size of the pumpkin. I cooked for 14 minutes.


Step 3:

Open the lid when the pressure is released naturally.


Step 4:

Take out the pumpkin from the pressure cooker. Be careful. Pumpkin will be hot to touch. Wear gloves if needed. Let it cool for few minutes. Cut in half. Remove the seeds and the stringy pulp. Rinse the seeds to separate the pulp and discard the pulp. Save the seeds.


Step 5:

Remove the skin and chop the pumpkin. The skin will peel off very easily at this point.


Step 6:

Transfer the chopped pumpkin cubes(few at a time) into a blender or food processor. I pureed them in a vitamix blender with the help of tamper. Pumpkin puree is ready to use.

It is as simple as that. You can use the pumpkin puree to make your favorite pumpkin recipes or store the pulp in the freezer for later use.
